Tuition & Fees


Tuition for residents is $2,995 at Philadelphia, $3,995 at LA Session I, and $3,195 at LA Session II. Commuter tuition is $2,495 at Philadelphia, $3,195 at LA session I, and $2,595 at LA session II. 

This covers instruction, housing (for residents), and meals. Tuition does not cover flights.

We accept payment by e-check, debit, or credit card via our online registration system. Families can pay by check, but only by sending the full payment in one installment; to pay by check, email us before registering.

Upon registration, we require a $500 non-refundable deposit per session. By March 1, we require 50% of total fees paid, with the remainder due by May 1. If space remains, applications will still be accepted after May 1 .

Community Equity Scholarship

The Community Equity Scholarship is a recognition of students who have been dedicated and continue to dedicate their time and effort to promoting inclusion and diversity on their debate teams, their local circuits, and/or the national circuit. We believe it’s important to recognize the work done outside of debate rounds that is often behind the scenes.

An independent panel will be choosing four recipients for this scholarship: two in Lincoln Douglas and two in Public Forum. Recipients will receive $1000 of financial aid that they can apply to any of our camp sessions. This award money can be combined with other needs-based financial aid because it is a separate amount of money being offered.

The application is open from now until March 29, 2018 11:59 EST. Decisions will be sent out to applicants by mid-April. Good luck!

 

Scholarships

Victory Briefs seeks to make debate camp available to all students regardless of their background and financial situation, where possible and as our funds allow. To that end, Victory Briefs provides limited discretionary discounts to some families who qualify for a scholarship. Scholarship awards will be distributed on a first-come-first-served basis until available funds are exhausted. In 2016 Victory Briefs offered about $80,000 in tuition assistance. 

Victory Briefs Scholarships are awarded based on demonstrated financial need, dedication to debate, and a student's contribution to a diverse and welcoming educational environment. 

To complete an application, we require letters from the student, a parent/guardian, and coach. The letter from the parent should indicate the level of need (including the amount of financial aid being sought) and scanned tax forms (1040 forms and either W2s or 1099s) for the past two years for both (two) parents/guardians; the letter from the coach/teacher should indicate work ethic, leadership, skill, and contribution to classroom environment; the letter from the student should indicate why attending VBI is important to them. Letters must be sent via email to help@victorybriefs.com. Requests for aid will be considered on an individual rolling basis.             

In your letter, please indicate any and all sessions the student is able to attend. We know that VBI is a valuable experience for our students regardless of location. Because we have limited scholarships available for each program, you may not be awarded funds for your first choice program.  

Upon receiving your application, we will ask you to register for camp and will waive the $500 deposit. We aim to notify applicants with a decision within six weeks.

We highly recommend applying for financial assistance in attending debate camp from other organizations, especially the Voices Foundation, which helps many students attend VBI each year.

Refund Policy


Refund Policy


Victory Briefs incurs a variety of irrecoverable costs related to contract guarantees to our host campuses and the need to make commitments to our staff. We are therefore unable to offer refunds of any kind starting May 1, and only 50% refunds after April 1. Deposit payments are never refundable under any circumstances. Students can change camps without penalty until May 1, after which changing a session is considered cancellation of the initial session.

Sometimes families must cancel their registration due to unforeseen circumstances. For this reason we recommend that families purchase insurance to cover registration and travel payments. If you wish to protect your VBI tuition payments you can obtain purchase protection through our registration service, Regpacks.

Regpacks Protection provides coverage for cancellation, program interruption, medical expenses, emergency evacuation, travel delay, and baggage and personal effects. This insurance is not provided by Victory Briefs; the insurer (not Victory Briefs) provides coverage for claims made against the policy.
